Hey RD Keyholders,

Duane here. I want to share some news about some changes that will be happening. Last week I announced to the staff that I'm stepping away from my role as the Director of Formation and Missions.

Early in my career, I was a counselor for a company called “Growthways”. I’ve come to realize that my heart for walking with people, listening, and helping them through tough seasons is really what I'm made for. This past year and a half at Red Door has helped me recognize that I'm at my best in that one-on-one space, helping people grow, not in the administrative tasks that are necessary in this role . So I’ve decided to return to that kind of work and start my own Life-Coaching business. And I’m really excited about this next season. My morning quiet times with Jesus have been rich and full of vision for this new venture. And… Maybe I can even be a resource for you when you meet people who are feeling stuck and need help?

Josh and I have talked this through together, along with the rest of the staff. I'll be here through the end of September, focusing on handing things off well. The Staff and Elders will share some of the roles that I have filled.

I’m very aware of the recent losses of both staff and key leaders. This has been difficult for many of us. That’s partly why it was super hard to share this with the staff and now with all of you. But, continuing to be in a role that doesn’t fit how I’m wired is even harder. I’m confident there is someone who is built for this position and can do it well. The Kingdom is big, and growing and expanding and though change is hard, this can be a good thing.
